Opening Weekend Success

6 straight winners
The Middlebury Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 season record with a morning victory over Stevens Tech by the score of 8-1, and an afternoon 7-2 victory over Brandeis.

The Panther Pack
The best of doubles was on display the whole day as we went 8-0 on the day. We received back-to-back victories at 1 doubles from Palmer and Peter, as well as a dizzying array of shot making wonders from Ari and Noah at 2 doubles. Our 3rd team of Chris and Will were up to their usual ways of playing old fashioned power doubles in the winning of their two matches. We also picked up consecutive exhibition victories at the 4th spot from Allen, Timo, Kyle, and Charlie. Another highlight during doubles action was the Middlebury fan turnout, particularly from Chili-fest goers who came to loudly support us after all their chili and beer tokens had been cashed in down the street.

Big thanks to our rowdy supporters

In both matches the Panther Pack came out eager in singles, backing up the stellar doubles performance. Leading the charge at the top spot was Ari, who recorded a victory against a top 5 nationally ranked singles opponent from Stevens. Courtney Mountifield overcame an off shooting day in his first match to notch a singles victory, Jackson Frons battled hard but eventually fell to a tough Stevens opponent, and Jack Welch flashed his Federer-like one handed backhand in recording an exhibition win for the Panthers.

We are packing our bags and leaving our winter coats here as we prepare for our southern California spring break trip next week. Stay tuned for updates from the road.
