Panthers (2-0) Beat Skidmore and Hamilton To Start Season

It was a great opening doubleheader for the Panthers as we defeated both Skidmore and Hamilton 9-0. The Panthers went undefeated in our exhibition matches as well, with all fourteen players posting a win on Saturday.

Match Highlights

Collectively, we were 8-0 in doubles and 15-0 in singles without dropping a set. All three of our freshmen recorded their first college victories. Stan Morris posted two straight set singles wins at #3 singles versus Skidmore and #1 singles versus Hamilton. Not bad for his opening debut! David Vilys punched in a convincing straight set victory at #5 singles versus Hamilton. Zach Hilty rounded out his class’s fourth singles win with another solid performance by our youngest team members.

Other impressive performances came from Nate Eazor and Lubomir Cuba, who posted a flawless 8-0 pro set against a solid #1 doubles Skidmore team. Andre Xiao and Aleks Samets followed suit also putting up an 8-0 win at #3 doubles versus Hamilton. In singles, Alex Vanezis won 6-0 6-0 at #3 singles versus Hamilton. We were very impressed that our guys could raise their games to the level they did this early in the season.

A crowd favorite performance, Adam Guo won a beautifully played 6-0, 6-1 victory at #5 singles versus Skidmore and was absolutely crushing the ball!

Upcoming Matches

This coming weekend we will be at Home in Nelson Arena to take on Brandeis (ranked #10 nationally) at 230pm on Saturday and RPI (ranked #26 nationally) at 230pm on Sunday. We are looking forward to taking on some great competition!
